The book contains texts, poetry, textile works, stories by artists, activists, and collaborators, and 320 photographs by Mexican artist Gabriel Rossell Santillán, most of them taken during his long relationship and joint work with members of the Wixarika community of Tuapurie (2011 -2019) and his visit to the Wixarika Salvador Allende community (2006-2007). Members of these communities were directly involved in the creation of the book; with the selection of images, creation of texts, narrative order of publication and content editing. A group of project participants went to Berlin to select and photograph the Wixaritári offerings that have been in the Dahlem Ethnographic Museum for more than 110 years. The sale of the book will finance a booklet with images with the offerings of Dahlem for the internal use of the community, types of textiles, drawings, materials, images of animals and plants already extinct in the mountains, which are of important use of the inherent elements to the spiritual practices and daily life of the Wixarika nation. The project seeks to find new ways of doing, working and raising awareness of indigenous knowledge and their ancestral, political and historical struggles.
