Self-published on the occasion of Feeling Tone at MCA Chicago—a recreation of Louis Studs Terkel’s WFMT radio booth—this booklet consists of a short essay from Deborah Stratman, still images from the show, and the edited transcription of three of Studs’ interviews that were featured in the installation (James Baldwin, Caroline Bird and Roger Buffalohead).

"Mounted on the exterior booth walls are four speakers. Every day throughout the run of the exhibition, a new conversation is featured—143 in all. Original broadcast dates ranging from 1953 to 1996 and are curated from thousands of hours of conversations Studs held with guests on The Studs Terkel Program. The cumulative voices model a socio-political topography of the times, still radical and relevant today. A feeling tone is an intelligence beyond words."
