Fetus Exodus is a print adaptation of the Jameel Library Comissiom developed by Ahmad Nabil between 2024 and 2025. Originally released as a digital project, it is now compiled into this zine format. Through monthly chapters, the project revists regional myths and legends, offering a layered space for study and reflection on folklore, imagination and memory.

This commissioned project presents a text addressing an imagined fetus, referred to as a “child of myths,” as they prepare to emerge from their incubation. Through this narrative, the human or semi-human fetus is introduced to mythological thought, and nudged to embrace a shared imaginarium. The myths explored evoke a variety of mythological structures and origins, particularly those prevalent in the SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) region. The texts traverse the entire cycle from creation and birth to resurrection, encouraging further exploration of their commonalities while making space for differences.

في هذا العمل الإبداعي، تُخاطب النصوص جنينًا مُتَخَيلًا شبه بشريّ، يشار إليه بـ” ابن الأسطورة” وقد تحضّر للخروج من فترة حضانته. من خلال هذه النصوص الشهرية يتم تعريف هذا الجنين بالفكر الأسطوري، ودفعه نحو احتضان عالم الخيال المتوارث في منطقة جنوب غرب آسيا وشمال أفريقيا (SWANA) وتأمّل مجموعة الأساطير المستكشفة والتي تشترك في العديد من الهياكل والأصول الأسطورية، متنقلين فيها من الخلق وحتى البعث مرورًا بالولادة، ما يشجع القارئ على البحث أكثر في نقاط التشابه فيما بينها، على أن نعطيها فسحة ومجالًا للاختلاف بعيدًا عن التفرقة.
