What is highly unlikely but not impossible? is the sixth book in the annual series, A Series of Open Questions, published by CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts and Sternberg Press. Each book in the series includes newly commissioned writing as well as a selection of perspectives, images, and references related to the Wattis’s year-long research seasons dedicated to single artists. 

What is highly unlikely but not impossible? is informed by themes found in the work of Hiwa K, such as statehood, war, migration, belonging, the effects of neoliberalism and colonialism, home as a concept, language, and the myth of the individual artist. The publication is unique in its lack of medium specificity, focusing instead on concepts conveyed through experimental poetry, lists, science fiction, photography, memoir, academic essays, art-historical texts, and more. Like previous editions in the series, this book brings together a range of voices and media on some of the most pressing issues of our time.
